Ci sono al Borghetto 11 alveari per un totale di circa 650000 api!
Ospitiamo da due anni le arnie di due apicoltori che gestiscono l’Azienda Agricola Apicorno vicino a Greve. Il loro approccio alle api è il più possibile "leggero": utilizzano soltanto prodotti biologici per eventuali malattie; nei casi in cui risulti necessario nutrirle non viene mai usato lo zucchero ma solo favi di miele precedentemente messi di scorta, e infine le regine sono allevate direttamente dagli Apicolturi.

At Il Borghetto there now 11 colonies, for a total of almost 650000 bees!
We have been hosting the hives of the Beekeepers Farm Apicorno—based near Greve in Chianti—for two years. Their approach is as light as possible, using only organic products and "mechanical techniques" to defend the colonies from any disease. If it happens that our bees need additional food in times of shortage, they are never given sugar but only part of their honeycomb, which is kept for this particular occasion. The queen bees are raised directly on our beekeepers' farm.
